DESCRIPTION

Oxytetracycline 20% LA Injection is a broad spectrum antibiotic, for the treatment in cattle, camel, sheep, goat & pigs of bacterial, protozoal and rickettsial diseases caused by organisms sensitive to oxytetracycline.

Contains per ml: Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride USP

      Equivalent to Oxytetracycline ........................................................ 200mg 

      (on Anhydrous Basis in a 2- Pyrrolidone vehicle system) 

      Excipient q.s ............................................................................... 1ml

PROPERTIES

Oxytetracycline 20% LA Injection is a clear, yellow-coloured solution with greenish tinge filled in an amber glass vial. Oxytetracycline, the active ingredient is primarily a bacteriostatic antibiotic that exerts its antimicrobial effect by the inhibition of protein synthesis. After parenteral administration of a single injection of Oxytetracycline 20% LA, high blood and tissue levels are rapidly attained and the therapeutic levels maintained to provide a prolonged action resulting in sustained antibacterial activity for 3 to 5 days.

Vetoxy 5% Injection is effective against a wide range of organisms including the following bacterial, rickettsial & protozoal pathogens common in veterinary medicine:

Bacteria:

Bacillus, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Vibrio, Salmonella, Leptospira, Erysipelas, Vibrio, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Brucella, Haemophilus, Shigella, Klebsiella, Fusobacterium, Actinomyces & Actinobacillus spp. It is also effective against E.coli, Listeria monocytogenes & Moraxella bovis.

Rickettsiae:

Chlamydia psittaci - Psittacosis

Protozoa: 

Anaplasma spp. 

INDICATIONS

For the Prophylaxis and therapy of primary and secondary infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to oxytetracycline in Cattle, Camel, Sheep, Goats & Pigs.

It is effective against a wide range of livestock diseases like: pneumonia, haemorrhagic septicemia, blackquarter, gastro-enteritis, footrot, mastitis, anaplasmosis, brucellosis, metritis, pasteurellosis, leptospirosis, erysipelas, urogenital-tract infections, mycoplasmosis, salmonellosis, liver abscesses etc. 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

By deep intramuscular injection.

The drug should be injected at several sites if the dose exceeds 20ml for cattle and 5ml for sheep and goats.

PRECAUTIONS

•  Some tissue reaction and discomfort may occur at the injection site.

•  Occasional sensitivity to Oxytetracycline has been known. In the event of drug allergy

    (anaphylaxis), administer epinephrine (adrenaline) immediately.

•  This preparation may darken during use but potency will remain unaffected.

•  Not recommended for cats, dogs and horses.

•  Milk: 3 days 

•  Meat: 15 days
